Wild Welsh Plants / Planhigion Gwyllt Cymreig
Wild Welsh Plants is a photography and writing project unearthing and celebrating the botanical heritage of Cymru. Emerging from shadowy undergrowth, each plant has a story to tell and a series of names revealing longstanding but dwindling relationships with humans. By investigating the etymology of Welsh plant names, plantlore, folk customs and medicine, these essays highlight Wales’s rich and unique history with wild flora, promoting deeper connections to the often overlooked botanical worlds at our feet. Published throughout the year, each essay focuses on one wild plant found growing in Wales and features original photography. Subscribe below to receive new essays directly in your inbox.
